Obituary for Maurice Gene Paslay
Celebration of Life for Maurice (Mort) Gene Paslay, 77, of Vacaville, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Rose Garden Senior Apartments Recreation Center, 1717 California Ave., Vacaville. Mort passed away on Jan 24, from renal failure. He was born on July 1, 1934, in Topeka, Kan. Mort, a football and basketball standout, graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka, Kan., in 1952. He went on to work in the meat packing industry in California and ran several businesses. He retired in 1991 as a refinery operator for Chevron Corporation. Mort was married to his beloved wife, Elaine Vereschagin of San Francisco, for the past 49 years. He was previously married to Nancy Niccum oif Topeka, Kan. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Stina Paslay of Topeka, Kan.;and son, Douglas Lynn Paslay of Leggett, Calif. In addition to his wife, Elaine, Mort is survived by two brothers, Merrill (Virginia) Paslay of Hazelton, Idaho and Bill Paslay of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Diane (Skip) Ellis of Topeka, Kan.; daughter, Roxanna Alexander, of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Greg (Kathy) Paslay of Orland,Calif., and Pat Paslay of Rupert, Idaho; stepsons, Bill Beliakoff of Pacifica, Calif., and Alan (Dana) Beliakoff of Vacaville; stepdaughters, Kathy Beliakoff of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Geri Hehir of Milpitas, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and beloved pet and companion, Sasha. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Mort's honor.
